Thanksgiving has come and gone — my first big holiday away from home — and I’ve got to admit, I was feeling some type of way about it. I love me some good food, and obviously, when you’re in another country, you’re not getting the same flavors or that family vibe you’d have back home.
But one thing I’ve learned living here in Medellín is that expats stick together. People who actually cook came together to make Thanksgiving special for everyone who was away from home, and honestly, I’m thankful for that.
It might not be the same as being around family, but sharing a meal with people who are also far from home feels special in its own way — a reminder that no matter where you are, you can still find community.
